EUCJIC Enables High-Level Industry Cooperation Between Ireland and China

On 5 January 2026, during the official visit of H.E. Micheál Martin, Taoiseach of Ireland, a high-level, results-oriented industry dialogue was successfully held in Beijing, focusing on the concrete implementation of China–Ireland cooperation in advanced therapies and life sciences. The dialogue was held with the presence and strong support of H.E. Micheál Martin, Taoiseach of Ireland; H.E. Nicholas O’Brien, Ambassador of Ireland to China; and Mr. Tadhg O’Callaghan, Head of China, Enterprise Ireland.

The Beijing Changping District Government, led by District Mayor Mr. Liu Xiaodong, together with the EUCJIC team led by Mr. Ruixue Zhou and Ms. Shasha Zhang, engaged in in-depth discussions with Centre for Cell Manufacturing Ireland (CCMI), the University of Galway – Regenerative Medicine Institute, and Orbsen Therapeutics. The Irish participants were represented by founder Prof. Timothy O’Brien. Discussions focused on clinical trials, financing pathways, and stem cell manufacturing, with the shared objective of translating European innovation into tangible clinical and industrial deployment in China.

The Europe China Joint Innovation Center (EUCJIC) served as the core coordinating and driving force, systematically structuring and advancing this high-level industry matchmaking process from initial concept through to execution. Since September 2024, through the ECI Center – Changping District, Beijing, a soft-landing initiative jointly implemented with the district government, EUCJIC has steadily established a robust foundation for the project by connecting European innovators with local clinical, financing, and industrial partners, designing clear China market entry and regulatory pathways, and translating policy-level intent into actionable implementation roadmaps.

This dialogue demonstrates how national-level diplomatic momentum can be translated into concrete industrial outcomes when supported by professional coordination, policy insight, and trusted execution. Looking ahead, EUCJIC will continue to support European life sciences and deep-tech innovators seeking structured, compliant, and scalable entry into China, turning shared ambition into delivered results.
